FIFA World Cup

This week started FIFA World Cup. People of all over the world are looking forward to the game. Although next week come our final exams, some of my friends still woke up at 2 o'clock to join the event, and discussed which team has the chance to win. Some of them also painted their nails in the color of the country which they are supported for. Besides, I have heard that in Brazil people have a holiday when their country has a competition. Even in Japan the working hours are changed so that people can watch the game. It seems that the whole world are crazy about football. After I finish all my reports and exams, I would also love to become one of these people watching FIFA World Cup!

Reflection

Time flies. The semester is about to end, which means final exams are coming and I am hunted by reports. Few days ago my classmate and I were talking about our performances in this semester. Both of us thought that our behavior are lazier than before, because we all look forward to our exchange year in Germany. For myself the bad habit of being late in class is also become more serious. Though I would like to do some changes, it is really hard to force myself to leave home earlier. There is only one year when I leave NCCU, except for planning my future, I should also establish good attitude and become more mature. Everything seems difficult at the beginning, but as long as I work hard,I hope I can reach my goal someday.

Abnormal Weather

The weather is getting worse and worse. It is normal that Taiwan in May has such annoying raining day. However, these days rained like someone pouring water from the sky. When people walking on the street in the pouring rain within three minutes their clothes all get wet through. From the news we could see lots of places were in flood, and even caused many people lost their properties. I still remembered about two years ago NCCU were also influenced by a heavy rain so cancelled all classes. Water fell down the mountains like a huge waterfall. All abnormal extreme weather remind us to pay attention to the environment, which has been strongly destroyed for decades. Now it gives us some warnings to take it seriously, otherwise it would become a hard disaster to humankind.

Horrible Incident

This week is an unstable week. At first it rained heavily like a huge typhoon struck in Taiwan. Then a strong earthquake waked me up at the morning. At the same day, a horrible incident happened in MRT. A teenager just as my ages took two knives and killed four people randomly. Moreover more than 20 people injured and cause tens of thousands of people afraid of taking metro. To people's surprise, his reason of his terrifying behavior is that he want to do something great. Nowadays many topics were discussed such as what is the problem let a high educated student to commit such a nonsense action? In my opinion, government should pay more attention to the security of public transportation system. Besides,teachers and parents should take more care of their students and children to stop they from imitating his behavior. I hope everything goes well in the future, and won't cause too many fear in life.

Mother's Day

I had a busy schedule this week. One thing came closely after another, such as my father's birthday, mother's day, upcoming German exam, troublesome presentation and so on. However, I still had a great time with my family during these special days. It seems that as the time gets closer to my exchange day, I would even more cherish every second I have with my family. This year we did not celebrate the mother's day with my grandmother, because my uncle had to have a heart operation, so grandmother went back to Tainan and took care of him. Besides, my brother has to prepare his important college entrance exam, therefore we only had a simple but great celebration at home instead of having a big meal outside. My father brought a delicious cheese cake,I cooked for my mother and my brother washed the dishes. I wish all my family members in the following years safe and sound and I love them forever.

Akeelah And The Bee

At Javier’s birthday Akeelah plays Scrabble with Dylan. After the game, Akeelah unexpectedly heard the conversation between Dylan and his father who strictly asked Dylan to win the first prize. Meanwhile, Akeelah thought she won’t have the chance to win Dylan because it seems impossible to beat the strength of Dylan. However Dr. Larabee told her she is the only cause that pushes Dylan. Besides, Akeelah also started her hard works with Dr. Larabee. They used prefix and etymon to memorize those difficult words, and it was helpful for Akeelah to use rhyme by spelling. During the state bee, Akeelah’s mother suddenly broke the competition because she was so angry that Akeelah sign the consent form by herself. After Dr. Larabee and the principle’s explain, finally got her mother’s agreement that Akeelah could participate the spelling bee. At the same time Javier tried his best to put off the time so that Akeelah would not be disqualified. Dylan, Javier and Akeelah won the qualifications to go to national spelling bee. Then, not only the big pressure and expectation, but also the information that Dr. Larabee won’t teach her anymore made Akeelah depressed and wanted to quit. Her mother used her college experience to encourage Akeelah and told her she had 50,000 coaches around her. With the help of her family and the people in the community, Akeelah prepared as hard as she could. Before the national spelling bee, she also changed the mind of Dr. Larabee so he was willing to accompany her to the competition. After a violent competition, Akeelah and Dylan fought for the first prize. At first Akeelah wanted to yield first prize to Dylan by misspelling. However Dylan wanted a final competition with Akeelah so he also misspelled. In the end both of them are champions in this national spelling bee. I think most of Asian parents put too much emphasis on their children. Sometimes it is only an expectation of parents, but gives the children many pressures. In order to achieve the goal of parents, some children have to give up their dream and spent most of their time doing the thing that they don’t like. Take Dylan as an example, I guess before he wins the national spelling bee, his daily life full of vocabulary. There are no fun and encouragement in the process of preparation. He is like a machine keeps memorizing words. In my opinion, there is a big difference between western cultures and eastern cultures. I remind myself in the future I would give my children freedom to pursue what they are really interested in, instead of my boring request.

Rheinpokal

This weekend my department held an activity at NCCU,called Rheinpokal. It is a big event for all the universities which have department of German come and join . This year we have speech contest,recitation contest,drama and sport competitions such as basketball,volleyball and table tennis. Besides due to the factor of place and personnel we canceled singing contest and badminton's activity. In order to ensure everything goes well, we have spent more than six months preparing. Actually we were totally tired out,because participants had many of questions about the rules. For example, They didn't want to take part in some activities temporarily but asked to get their earnest money back. Their reason make a some sense, however it was a deal already made by several months ago. Therefore it was hard for us to show understanding for their situation. In my opinion they should also take account of other universities reaction because it was unfair for those who also broke the rules. Now the event was ended, and my weekend was also over. After I finished my writing I would die on my bed and sleep until tomorrow.
